On the eve of the primary election, I want to remind you that your vote tomorrow is very, very important. In my primary, the voters are deciding who will represent the Democratic party as the candidate for lieutenant governor in the general election on November 2nd.

Some people think "the primary doesn't count," so they skip the primary and decide only to vote in the general election. They couldn't be more wrong. It's extremely important to choose who will represent you in November by voting in tomorrow's primary election. My Democratic primary opponent and I hold significantly different views on many issues. Choose the person that best reflects your views and values on the issues that matter to you. Don't forfeit your choice of candidates by waiting until the general election.

What if you don't identify as a Democrat or Republican?  If you are an unaffiliated or independent voter, you can vote in the party primary of your choice.  It is very easy to vote as an independent, just request a"disaffiliation" form from poll officials after you vote, fill it out and return it right there and then, or within 90 days to your local board of canvassers.

To find your polling place and for more information on tomorrow's elections, go to the Rhode Island Secretary of State web site at http://www.sos.ri.gov/elections/.  I will be out at different polling places all day tomorrow.  I hope to see you!
